I was very efficient yesterday morning. I got up, did the household chrores. Did the necessary laundry. Ironed my dress. Bathed Small Boy.

And here's where the trouble started. The noise of the running bath awakened Husband, who woke up with a hideous migraine. A migraine so bad, that I was actually worried he wouldn't make it out of the house at all.

And of course, the first thing he said when he saw my dress, all ironed and laid out was, "You are not wearing that! Don't you have any nice dresses?!"

The dress is a cotton print, white, with large pink flowers with green foliage. It sounds hidous, I know, but it looks great on, and looks great on me. It has a very fitted torso, with off the shoulder sleeves and a full skirt. I said, "Just let me try it on, then if you still hate it, we can see what else I have."

Eventually, he agreed that the dress was good. Then I went and discovered that the shoes I planned to wear with it, were stained. I growled at them, then decided I could get away with them anyway. The stain was on the heel, and shoes often get dirty, so if anyone was actually looking at me, from behind, at a distance, and noted the stain, it would look like dirt. But argh! REAL HEELS! I never wear them. Not to mention hosiery! Yikes!

So I get all dressed and then go out to where Husband and Small Boy are watching a movie and dress Small Boy. In the process, Husband says, "OK, you cannot bend over!" As it turned out, if I tipped forward EVEN SLIGHTLY with the dress on, you could see right down my front. Dammit. Well, that would have just driven me crazy all night. So I went to my second choice dress. Cotton print, with tiny lavender flowers. I made this dress myself, years ago. Princess lines. Much higer neckline and much more modest, but still required strapless bra. Oh yeah. Strapless bra. Yikes!

This dress looked great and just needed to be ironed. But first, I modeled for Husband. Who immediate says, "Yep. I can see your..." and he gestured subtly to indicate my underwear. Dammit.

Then I discovered I no longer own a slip.

*sigh*

So, I went to my third choice dress. A kicky little black number, but very, very black. I felt very weird about wearing a black dress to the wedding. I had asked Cellmate about that, and she assured me that black is FINE for a wedding, particularly an evening one like this wedding.

The nice thing about the black dress is that my black "heels" might as well be flats. And I could wear a normal bra with it.

The only thing about the black dress is that it is nylon-polyester, and a bitch to iron and it had a couple of really bad creases in it.

So anyway, I wore the black dress.

Husband felt much better by the time we got there.

The service was beautiful. Small Boy was perfect. The dresses were gorgeous. The aunties were radiant.

Afterwards, Small Boy stayed to have his pictures done and he got to ride to the hotel in the limo. Apparently this was really cool. I get the impression they had some kind of lazer light show in the limo, but that was not at all clear.

The reception was on the roof of the hotel in an airconditioned tent. Everything was lovely. They used orange and red zinnias in addition to red roses, and the tent was done in white, with the zinnias for accent color. The food was very good, though of course, Small Boy ate nothing but some jelly beans and cheese. *rolls eyes*

Small Boy and I danced. Pictures were taken. Relatives were met. Very many meeting Small Boy in person for the first time. A lovely time was had by all.

Trip home was a little confusing, but we did it at 10:30 at night when there was no traffic to speak of, so it was very easy to fix our early misdirections getting away from the hotel. I did manage to avoid the one major blunder I almost made, where I very nearly took Spout Run Parkway instaed of the George Washington Memorial Parkway. That would have been an annoying oops.

We got home about 11:30. Small Boy, getting out of the car, said, "Can you brush my teeth and put me straight to bed?" He fell asleep on his Daddy's shoulder being carried from the car to the house.

I will post pictures. :)
