I am not ready to declare the 45 days ready to begin anew. There is still too much move in the way to let me start thinking about normal maintenance. It will be at least a week. Maybe two. However, the plan to put the little TV in the kitchen so I can watch Farscape and Stargate while slogging through dreary housework has really been a quality of life improvement. I thought I would alternate episodes. Instead I am alternating disks.

I'm really excited about Farscape. It's one of those shows that I kept not having time for. And going back to the old Stargates is so much fun. And as an old fan now, with a lot of fanfic under my belt, it is fantastic to revisit the fine points of the show - the things that have faded over time, or that I never noticed before.

The house is coming along. I'm looking around and from where I am sitting at the computer desk, things are actually approaching normal. I really love our little courtyard. It's funny how some things are convenient now that were onerous before. We can easily take trash out before trash day now. We can easily recycle. The grill is much more usable in the new space. The car is parked just outside our gate, so forgetting something in the house is no longer that big a deal. And bringing in the groceries is now a snap. Before it was many long treks to the car. Now it's about the same as it used to be bringing in groceries from the garage at my parents' house. But with the closed courtyard and the orientation of the building, even though the car is right there, I don't feel like our front yard is the parking lot. And the covered parking space. While we live here, I will never have to stand in the rain getting drenched while a cranky toddler refuses to be strapped into her car seat. I will never again have to scrape ice sludge off the car while it rains on me.

Small things that make life much better.
