Last night made Rainbow Cake and potato rolls. Was disappointed, because the rolls got singed, but this morning realized that it was v. easy just to slice off the bottoms, and they were perfect! Well, still not quite as good as Mom's. Needed to let them rise a little longer to get that wonderful alcoholic quality... But probably the best I've ever made, apart from the bottoms.

Tonight, worked out - Thighs of Steel. Man, that's gonna sting tomorrow.

In work news, the last of the bills hit the mail today. Delayed by illness, but out, nonetheless.

Interviewed my first pet candidate today. Not sure. The guy didn't really seem right to either myself or The Boss. Have another pet candidate coming in on Friday. Will decide the next move then.

In other news, not sick! Go me! How long does it take this virus to incubate, anyway?!

Tomorrow, Lent and self-flagellation...

Okay, two things - Rainbow cake?

and

wonderful alcoholic quality

In potato rolls??

Was the first one the London School guy?

And oh, poor thighs *grins*

self-flagellation...

Does the "Thighs of Steel" not count as this, or will you be wearing a hair shirt?

And maybe the projectile vomiting just past you by!

Sorry, in very sily mood!

Rainbow Cake

Rainbow Cake is a classic kids' food. White cake made from a box mix (though of course you *could* make your own white cake, just I don't think anybody *does*). Prepare, bake in 2 9-inch rounds, and cool. Return to cleaned pans. Dissolve two packages of jellow of different colors in separate cups of boiling water. Makes holes in cakes with large-tined fork. Pour one jello over one round, one jello over the other. Chill at least 4 hours. Layer and "frost" with cool whip (though again, I suppose you could use real whipped cream, but nobody does). I actually find this recipe to be surprisingly good, but it probably just reminds me of being a kid. And I don't know where you stand on the gelatin issue, vegetarian-wise.

My reply about the potato rolls got so long, I just made a new post.

Yeah, the first interview was that guy. Heh. Today, *I* am being interviewed. More about that later. And have the other guy on Friday.

Thighs of Steel is a bit like self-flagellation... It sure hurt a lot more than the other one did.
