I know I've heard the Benecio del Toro story before—even way before the movie came out, when it happened. Don't know about the other 1-2 before BC, but it wouldn't surprise me. Matching actors and parts and schedules is a crazy business.

ETA: Have also heard BC didn't know who his part really was until after he signed.
