Drastic measures
Oct. 15th, 2009 10:33 amI'm tired of being cold at work. I prefer warmer temperatures indoors than most people, but I work in a stupid office building with little ability to control temperature in the core areas. Even though Cellmate and I have closed our HVAC vent, I am still the victim of the temperature of the two attorney offices nearest to me, and their offices run about 60 degrees during the day. *flips them off* So I FREEZE in the draft. It is so bad, I sit in closed toed shoes, long pants, long sleeves and a fleece and my fingers still get so cold there are times during the day when the pads of my fingers go numb. I thought I was having some sort of neurological event until I realized it only happens at work.
Yesterday, I rearranged my desk to try to keep the draft off my feet and hands. I *think* it worked for my feet, but draft comes in at too high an angle for my office equipment to protect my hands.
But in rearranging my furniture yesterday (my desk weighs about 400 pounds), I realized that, hmmm, some serious physical activity really warmed me up.
So I think every time my hands start to go numb, I'll do a couple of rounds of Surya A and B.
Also, I have grabbed a mug and filled it with hot water. I'll never be a hot water drinker, but maybe a handwarmer could help. I'll bring my UNC mug from home tomorrow.
Also, I have fingerless gloves at home for weight training, but I'm not doing that right now. May bring those to work, so I can wear gloves while typing.
Jeez. The complexity of modern life. *rolls eyes*

Date: 2009-10-15 04:02 pm (UTC)Brrr! I'm really sensitive to cold, too--I hate the over-air conditioning that happens in summer. I would go nuts if my desk were freezing all the time like yours! I did get a little portable heater for by my desk that I had to use a few times last year, when the building-wide HVAC didn't agree with my "pocket."

A reminder to please be using one's large, sentient brain for something besides writing pr0n.
