Pumpkin Jack
May. 10th, 2009 09:18 amWhoo hoo! Our friend pumpkin has sprouted!
As you may recall, we usually keep a pumpkin in the house as long as possible after pumpkin season. He finally goes out side when he starts to show signs of rot.
Well, I put that pumpkin in our deck planter to decompose. He's been out there since January, I think.
He's sprouted! Lots of good strong, fat seedlings! I thinned them some (and just for funsies, tried to transplant the thinned ones, we'll see if they take), though possibly not enough. That planter is in heavy, but not full shade, so I have no idea if the plants will thrive and produce gourds or not. But I'm bouncing with excitement! I'll have to get some plant food for them. That soil is way old out there. *claps and dances* Maybe we'll have a huge pumpkin patch after all!!!!
