Much to report
Jun. 5th, 2008 02:05 pmWe got a new mattress. And a bed. We now have a bedframe and headboard for the first time since 2000, when we bought our first king bed without a frame and put it up on cinder blocks in the bedroom in order to store stuff under it.
We feel like such grownups.
We also bought a new computer. A gorgeous HP Pavillion with a big ole' monitor and 4GB RAM and 750GB storage and a card reader and TV capability and a bunch of media bays we won't use (at least for now) and a CD burner that will put a label on the disc.
Still must test to see if my printer dock will work right with it, but otherwise, I think we have a total win.
I have been for a Lasik exam and been deemeed Lasik-able. Now we just want to check out the doc and decide if I'm really ready to pay for it.
I have been exercising and lifting weights. No noticable changes in body yet - that is, no weight loss to speak of - probably because I haven't really changed my eating habits, which I need to do - but I am definitely stronger, which is awesome. I have been following the directive of this guy to challenge yourself with a little bit more every day and even every set, and it has definitely had an impact even after only about 12 workouts.
Was going to do yoga today, but computer needed me.
The Barbarian cuter by the day. AG33 is becoming a teenager before my eyes. And that's RL.

Date: 2008-06-06 06:25 am (UTC)Lasik freaks me out. First: MY EYEBALLS! *meep* Also, your eyes change as you age. Lasik makes you 20/20 for now, but what about in 10 years? 20?
Forget the scale. With strengthening, watch for changes in how tight your clothes are; muscle weighs more than fat, so you may not lose poundage.
KIDS! :-D

Date: 2008-06-06 07:09 am (UTC)In my family, I am the only driver. So, my eyes x100 for me. It's bad enough trying to deal with me being blind for a day, what if there was something badly wrong for a long time? But realistically, contact lenses are a higher risk than lasik. RE the vision changing thing, my eyes have been stable for years now, which is one of the things they check. And I'm getting the lifetime plan, which means touchup forever. But with that, to me the worst case would be I got corrected vision for 10 years, then had to do something with glasses again. My vision is really, really bad, and contacts don't really work for me anymore with my astigmatism. I've nearly talked myself into this. So. More news as I waffle.
