Afghan antics
Jan. 30th, 2008 07:10 amYears ago, (really, years, now)
cocoajava made the afghan featured in the photo below.

She made it for the Rice Barbarian, but it has been mostly appropriated by AG33. The Rice Barbarian loves it too, when she can get her little hands on it.
This morning, we learned about square units using the afghan.
CJ, your afghan is an excellent math teaching tool! I demonstrated one square unit. I demonstrated how 2 units on a side yield 4 square units. We then measured a pillow, using the correct way of multiplying the sides, then taking the pillow away to confirm our result by counting squares. Then AG33 pointed out that the whole afghan is 64 square units.
Your afghan defeated a 2-star question on Math Superstars! :D
