Spoiling myself
Jan. 11th, 2008 01:37 pmI received an Amazon gift card from a certain party this Christmas. Also, I had about $4 left from an old one from last Christmas.
So I have made my first digital music purchases via download.
I like Amazon, because the use of the files is unrestricted.
I bought some oldies that I really like but I would probably never go looking for a CD by the artist. Also, some things from the radio, both recent and from the mid 90's. I didn't listen to popular music on the radio between about 1996 and 2007, so you will note the gap. And a few Stargate fans will be amused by a couple of my choices:
Stress - Jim's Big Ego
Where Have All The Cowboys Gone? - Paula Cole
I'd Really Love To See You Tonight - England Dan
Drift Away - Uncle Kracker
Put Your Records On - Corrinne Bailey Rae
Black Horse And The Cherry Tree - KT Tunstall
The Rose (LP Version)- Bette Midler
Sometimes When We Touch - Dan Hill
Are You Gonna Be My Girl (Album Version) - Jet
Walkin' On The Sun - Smashmouth
I was sadly unable to buy:
Standing Outside a Broken Phone Booth with Money in My Hand - Primitive Radio Gods
Bad Touch - The Bloodhound Gang
The Way - Fastball
The Female of the Species - Space
Being with You - Smokey Robinson
Turn the Beat Around - Gloria Estevan's version
Livin' la Vida Loca - Ricky Martin
I decided not to get any Cake or Killers, becuase really, I just need to buy their albums, I think. I want more than one song by those bands, which is usually an indicator that I need to give the group a try, not just pick up a single.
Cellmate liked 10 of 12, so yay! Though she continues to boggle at my eclectic musical taste. I realize that compared to most of you, I don't know much, but compared to her... :D
I have money left, so I will probably spoil myself some more in a couple of weeks.

Date: 2008-01-12 04:12 am (UTC)I know you will not believe this, but those are two of the literally three song vids I have ever visited. I went there because of fandom not music.
As I was telling
So all your gorgeous posts of music, which I have admired and been curious and drooled over even... I have never, ever opened or downloaded or whatever even one file.
I loved the songs, but I will not pretend that there is not a tiny part of my brain that felt I should purchase these songs in part because I had enjoyed their illegal use so much.
Yes, I have secret pockets of insanity. But that does not mean hari kari by spork for you!

To be fair I've probably only embedded the first once or twice, but I trot out the Ballad of Barry Allen every few months. Because, The Flash! I love the Flash.
I'm just feeling like Bruce Willis in the Sixth Sense, lately.
