Yikes. And my day at work.
Feb. 13th, 2007 07:58 pmYikes! The Valentine's Day LJ tool bar thingie just appeared when I posted that last post. Quite pink. They do know how many people HATE Valentine's Day, don't they. I would think they would want to give the holiday a pass...
So, if you were in suspense, I did, indeed, go to work today. Small Boy and I left early, dropped Little Sister off at day care, came back towards home to drop off the empty propane tank and get a new one, as well as get gas for the car, only to find I left my wallet in the diaper bag, so we went back to the day care, then completed our fuel related missions, I got the tank hooked up, and we were ready to head for school and work. The really bad stuff held off until after lunch, and I stayed at work until about 3:15 before I chickened out and went home. Roads still weren't too terrible, except weirdly, the secondary street just beside my office. Anyway, AG33 came home with Husband when school closed early at 1:30, so I picked up Little Sister on the way home and in all, we played it very safe.
It has icked all day, but as of sundown, there wasn't too much accumulation on trees or wires, so I am optimistic that maybe there won't be any power outage or anything nasty like that. The day care posted a notice that they intend to be open tomorrow, but I'm guessing the school system will close. And again, I am in the same position I was last night. If the roads are passable, I'll go to work. Husband plans to stay home if the schools are closed, but AG33 can always come to work with me.
I got the office all settled so if I can get to the office, I can do some work. I have created the illusion of a clean desk but putting my "inbox" into two banker's boxes. The pile of billing and bookkeeping issues has it's own banker's box. It's a nice illusion. This afternoon, in the 45 minutes or so I had to actually do work, I just started taking items off the top of the top box and dealing with them without prioritizing, just getting them done. And the pile actually went down! If I can get to the office in the morning, I think I will spend two hours doing that. Just taking the top item off. Then I will crack open the tracking-the-money project and give the Boss my final say on what we know and don't know. He gave me a memo several weeks ago about what he wants done.
Aside from that, I am dying to write. I have again set aside the project that has been vexing me and as soon as I decided to do that, I immediately got inspiration on two different projects. Maybe one of these evenings I'll actually be able to sit down at the computer and spend some selfish time on fiction.
And that is the news from me.
