The repercussions
Mar. 12th, 2004 10:25 pmWell...
After years as myself on AOL, I am finally going incognito.
The person I chatted with yesterday had indeed hacked Irving's account and stolen his screen name for whatever nefarious purposes. Of course, as I thought I was talking to Irving, with whom I worked side by side for years, who gave me lovely birthday presents, and held The Small Boy when he was less than 10 lbs, and paid my salary, and met my parents, and took us for birthdays at the Ritz, etc, etc., I was using my RL screenname. So scum bastard who stole his screenname *knows who I am!*
No real harm done to me, but The Husband, who has always been uncomfortable with me being myself on AOL, finally put his husbandly foot down and insisted I change my screenname.
With a big huff, I have agreed.
So am transitioning to baranduin72 from my old screenname.
Transition will be complete when I get to work on Monday and can send myself my buddy list on AIM.
AOL has reached new levels of stupidity, however, as their newest version does not allow simple transition of the address book. Will have to reenter the whole thing.
And, have to run around the internet changing my address on all sorts of accounts - amazon, yahoo, etc.
