Why do I continue to be surprised by people?

This morning, I was in traffice behind a person with a vanity tag.

IHATEM

Why would you choose a license tag that just broadcasts a vague message of hatred to every person who gets behind you in traffic? Dozens, possibly hundreds of people a day?

It would make me sad.

Except for some reason I'm pissed today. Or for no reason. I am temped to blame hormones. Gonna try to shake it off. Perhaps it is the knowledge that I have *yet another* stupid sonogram this afternoon.

Now I wanna know who M is. Or maybe it's short for 'em', as in 'them', as in "I hate them"?

That's the thing. If I thought M was just a person, or possibly a noun, like "moths" or "meat" or "Mondays" or something, then yeah, no problem.

But it clearly reads like "I hate 'em." And even if that's not what they meant, I'm sure that for 90% of the people who read it, that's what they understand it to mean. And the next though is, am I one of "'em?"

A very bad, stupid, ill thought out tag. Unless that person is just bad (possibly combined with stupid).

Hmmm....Should I be concerned? One of my most favorite people in the world, whom I remember to be a very cheerful and easy going type of gal has expressed, recently, a fair amount of anger. If this were my Dad or my brother I would be like, "So what's new?" And, of course I know hormones are involved here. Boy oh boy, I have done some really out there things because of pre-menstral hormones. Dropped all my classes one semester because I felt so overwhelmed, but we both know I have other stuff going on that contributed...and in hindsight it was kind of funny. Anyway, my Dear One, I hurt to hear you are feeling all this. It is not fun to feel so much negative emotion. What can I do to help?
