Small Boy remembers stuff.
It is v. scary. Complete, exact quotes from Stargate two weeks ago. Names of characters on Star Trek that Husband and I didn't catch the first time, much less remember, names of various goa'ulds, aliens, spaceships, etc. You get the picture.
And it's all junk.
So, I decided Small Boy needed something more challenging in his brain's media consumption, and we are reading Isacc Asimov's book, essay collection, whatever - Extraterrestrial Civilizations.
I first read this book in 7th or 8th grade, and I really enjoyed it. In it, Asimov makes a careful, methodical discussion of the likelihood of finding other intelligent life in the universe. He starts with a discussion of what life is, what intelligence is, what types of intelligence are important to us, and moves on to discuss the possibilities of finding life in our solar system and beyond.
Small Boy is eating it up with a spoon. We are also currently reading Harry Potter, but Small Boy still wants a dose of this book nightly, and tonight, preferred it to the novel.
It makes me want to kiss him all over his baby geek face!
