Giving up (weelllll, actually...)

After about 3 hours of fiddling, I have become completely frustrated with the whole remote loading of pictures thing. I have created several excellent, wonderful borders that don't appear on the webpage as they do in my photo editor. Maybe The Brother will know what the problem is.

Transparency is not gonna work for what I want, but came up with my favorite layout idea yet, if I can get the borders to work.

UPDATE: So I lied. I did not give up. I called my brother. I fixed my remote loading problems, and I have temporarily combined smelly humans and hobbits in the border.

Now almost late for work! Toodles!

UPDATE 2: Trying out boxer. But need to fix background image.

UPDATE 3: OMG! I think I have the perfect journal! Please let me know if the page is slow to load.

I have achieved something approaching my ideal vision of my journal. Decided I did not like transparent for what I wanted to do. Might have worked better, though, if I could get a darker/heavier font. May revisit the issue in a month or so. The cool thing is that if I leave this boxer layout to go back to component, the boxer layout is remembered by LJ. So if I want to come back to it, I just switch to boxer, and it's all set! If I could get a perfect Component layout with transparency, perhaps I could switch between them as the mood strikes me! :)
