Your Honor, my apologies upfront
Feb. 1st, 2005 02:09 pmThis couple settled everything ages ago. But just today the husband, our client, comes in with the Consent Custody Order and the Final Decree, signed off by the wife.
These are the documents you send to the Court for the judge to sign and make everything final.
Client chuckled as he handed them off to me, saying "his daughter" must have gotten a hold of them.
They are rumpled at the corners and edges. Marked up with handwritten changes in pencil and pen. Covered in dirty smudges and grease spots. I hate the thought of having them on my desk. These documents are going to have original judicial signatures on them (or the judge's stamp or whatever the heck they do over there), and go in the Court's archives forever. If I were the judge's clerk, I'd send them back, saying they can't accept documents that would encourage cockroaches or rats.
But you know, that's just me.
Interested to hear what the Bossman says about them tomorrow.
