Well, that was unpleasant.
We had a minor ice storm last night. By this morning, a fair amount of ice on the ground and trees, but the precip had changed to steady rain. Around 9:30 The Husband and I decided that the most dangerous thing would be actually getting to the car. So I went out with the shovel and scraped the sidewalk from the apartment to our parking space. Then I cleared the car off. Then I scraped some more of the sidewalk on the way back.
Doing a major ice clearing job in the steady, cold rain is not fun. In case you were wondering...
On the up side, day care was open (I had to be revived with smelling salts), so The Small Boy did not have to come to work. And the roads were fine. The most dangerous part of the day is getting to and from the vehicle. Thank goodness we have underground parking here at the office...
OK, working now.
