Unexpected
Dec. 9th, 2004 06:21 amAOL sucking slightly less than usual this morning! Wow!
For those of you with the sense NOT to use AOL, it has for months now had a screen that comes up automatically when you log on. This screen shows a slideshow of stories, with moving pics. You could choose the general type of story shown, but you could not just say, no, I don't want this. Also, there is no way to x out of the screen. It just minimizes. To the worst possible spot, making running more than one window at a time very awkward.
When the most recent hostage was beheaded, AOL ran that story for days on Husband's screen. It was terrible. I have the entertainment version up, so you can imagine the crap I get to see on a regular basis.
I recently found a work around for the problem. "Close" the screen so it minimized, then drag it over and stick it behind my buddy list. Ha! Perfection!
But this morning, there was a new screen. Much less intrusive. And it minimized down to a sidebar like the sidebar they used to have before. So basically, it went away! And if I want to get rid of the side bar, I can still use my workaround. Though, stupidly, when you x out of it, the side bar now minimizes the same stupid way the screen used to. Blah, blah. So sucks slightly less.
