It's funny what people worry about.

Had a client who signed an affidavit and had it notarized. It said she didn't know where her husband lived. That's all. So the client came to believe that the Court had lost this document. She was all up in arms because there was a document with her notarized signature floating around "God knows where." What did she think was going to be done with this document? *shakes head in confusion*

Then, there was the guy this week who was not comfortable saying his social security number over the phone. This was a problem, because I needed his social security number. I suggested he could fax it, except that we get our faxes through E-fax, so it would be converted to an e-mail. OR he could e-mail it, but if you're scared to say words into the phone, imagine how paranoid e-mail must make you. Or he could write it down and mail it. After offering him the options, he finally decided he *could* say it over the phone after all. I mean, I know that it is possible that somebody is listening in our our phone conversation electronically. But I would bet you good money that at restaurants this guy gives his credit card to the waitress. Who is some young adult he knows nothing about who could be copying down the number and CID, etc. in the back somewhere and proceeding to use his card for on-line transactions. That seems a lot more likely than someone eavesdropping on our phone conversation.

Jeez. If you are going to be paranoid, at least be consistant...
