She set up LochJournal. I was on the fly, but wanted her to see the alert. And she got it, just as my computer shut off. So, yes, I suppose she got an A. :)
LochJournal is a Windows client. When you open an update journal window, in the boilerplate at the top you will see an invitation to download clients. Follow the links to the Windows clients. You can download and install one called LochJournal.
Useful features: you can draft and save entries. You can avoid having to know any html/S2 *at all*. It will remind you of birthdays. It will check our friends page while you have it logged on. It checks every minute. If somebody on your page updates, you get an alert.
Personally, I prefer to update my journal the old fashioned way. But the friends page check can be cool.
Oh, and it shows up as a little green alien monster looking guy in your system tray, when he's running.
