Strewth

Anybody want to tip me off to the term, apprently mild profanity, "Strewth?" Cause I'm at a loss here. Some sort of contraction of "It is truth" possibly?

God's truth.

Less blasphemously (blasphemy! blas for you!) 'it's the truth.' An oath in the oathtaking sense, and not the swearing one, but it works both ways.
