My day so far
Jul. 1st, 2004 08:13 amOK. Where is everybody?
The commutes have been a dream since school let out. I expected them to improve, but this has been ridiculous. And last night, when I went running errands, there was nobody on the road! And this morning, when I walked to work from the place where I am having the car inspected, no cars! I could almost have danced in the street! We walked out of the house this morning and The Small Boy said, "Why is it so quiet?"
Not that I'm complaining. It's beautiful! But it also makes me nervous. Is there, like, a code red terrorist threat that nobody mentioned to me?
Or is this what the Capital area is always like the week before July 4 in an election year?
Walk to work was lovely. Very nice morning. 87% humidity, but only 69 degrees. Weatherbug is not even bothering to show a heat index. Cornflowers, dandelions, clover, and sensitive plant (?) blooming along the way. Nothing particularly fragrant and no recently mown grass, but nothing v. stinky, either! *snortle*
I have asked them to check the brakes on the car. Cross your fingers that there is nothing to be done to them. And I am hoping that I have done a little piece of voodoo by leaving it. Now that it is very inconvenient, maybe the body shop will FINALLY call to set up the appointment!
