My mostly borning day

Melanie threw out her back! Poor Mel!
She was in town to try out for Jeopardy. She and her mom drove up from NC. We had a date for lunch yesterday. We were going to go to Maggiano's over at the Galleria.
But she called in the morning to say that she was back in NC, and that she had an MRI yesterday and expects to need surgery! No!!!
So upsetting. On the up side, she sounded pretty decent on the phone. *worries*
In other news, when I whined to the boss that I had no lunch date anymore, he said, "I can take you to lunch!" So he did!
We went to the Capital Grille, where they are working very hard to make you feel that you have gone out to lunch at the yacht club. Valet parking, lots of dark woods and brass on the interior, paintings of ships, people riding, etc. They could not seat us in the dining room, so they offered us a table for two in the bar. Clearly thought we were a couple out for lunch and not work colleagues. Never had such attentive wait staff, ever. The head waiter/manager/maitre'd type guy came back and brought me a *black* napkin, because he didn't want me to get white lint on my black suit. Whoa!
I had a lobster and crab sandwich.
Those were the events of the day.
