Closely intertwined

muck_a_luckOnly a parent can know how closely intertwined adorable is with annoying.
1. Child, crying for you up in the middle of the night to sob on your lap because of a scary dream. That one's both, actually.
2. Child, refusing to sleep in their own bed the next night because of bad dream - really freakin' annoying.
3. Child warm and safe, cuddled down next to you, sleeping peacefully - hardly anything more adorable than that.
4. Child, spending half the night with her tiny little arm flung over your neck and her tiny little hand poking you in the chin. Annoying? Both? (See, I think a mother chooses both, a sane person chooses annoying on this one.)
At least she slept through the 4:14am alarm going off. Which non-parents might find annoying, but all parents understand just leaves you breathing a sigh of relief.
