My Fourth of July by CK
Jul. 5th, 2009 08:00 amYesterday I took The Barbarian "fwimmin" early, so she could have a nap in preparation for the noisy evening. She slept for almost 2.5 hours, while Husband and I finished Season One of Supernatural. Which showed that I had, in fact, seen almost every single ep from the first season. Husband has now put in Season Two, which we watched til midnight last night.
The neighborhood was as noisy as expected, but this year we had a FAB view right out the living room window of some really awesome fireworks. It's possible the school did a fireworks display, but I think it was closer than that - in the park on the other side of our street, which is behind a row of townhouses from us. I'm pretty sure a neighbor ror neighbors just went and spent some serious cash on fireworks. They were going off regular as clockwork over there for about an hour. A big burst of pretty, pretty lights, pause about three minutes, I guess to reset, then another big burst. The Barbarian was *enthralled.* Next year I hope we can set up chairs on the deck. This year, The Barbarian was too scared of the noise to watch outside, so we spent an hour or so with our noses pressed up against the glass. On the other hand, no skeeter bites.
She kept trying to sneak peeks at "Everybody Loves a Clown," naughty thing. Well, actually, at the beginning we were sort of letting her watch the non scary parts and covering her eyes for the bad stuff, but she started commentating on what was happening and clearly she was well and truly 100% tuned in to the plot, at which point Husband decided it was far too violent and scary for her, though she actually was showing a fair maturity about being able to distinguish between the good clowns and the bad one. I think it's all the Scooby Doo she watches! And possibly the MST3K. She's very sophisticated in her views of the world and monsters! :D
We finally put her in her crib well after 10pm, which is how we managed to be up watching Supernatural til midnight.
Oh! And in the afternoon we watched the Gag Reel for the first season. I was trying to eat strawberries during it. I'm amazed that half chewed berries didn't shoot out my nose. Srsly. I was crying laughing. Apparently, I missed some really funny stuff when Husband watched A Day in the Life of Jared and Jensen while I was fixing my strawberries.
And that was my July 4. Happy Independence Day, my fellow Americans!
