After my hiatus, feeling very slovenly.
So, the exercise portion of Lent is starting early this year! I resolve to have something to post to
dailyexercise every day between now and Easter.
Today: 15 minutes situps. Slightly less than 15 minutes sun salutations.
I am trying to feel more free doing yoga without the aid of an instructor, so that it can be more of an internal mediation. On the one hand, it is much more soothing to do it "alone." On the other hand, I definitely do not push myself the way I do when I'm trying to keep up with the instructor on a tape. Plus, I'm not that advanced, so I feel like doing yoga alone all the time will mean I do the yoga much more poorly.
I wonder what it would be like to do a familiar DVD with the instructor track turned off, just watching the disc for prompts? Or maybe the reverse? Pull the instruction track off and play it on an .mp3 player or something? Nah. That's basically what I do anyway - I almost never watch the thing, I listen to it. *ponders*
UPDATE: OK, starting the rest of my Lent today, too. Through Easter, I will be tracking my food and exercise and I will be fasting to the tune of 1500 calories per day, as best I can track it. Also, starting tomorrow, as I already blew it today eating cookies, I will be limiting my white sugar during Lent the same way I did the other week. Basically no sugar except whatever is part of my granola cereal, the less than 1 Tablespoon I put on my strawberries in the morning, and the little bit of vanilla yogurt I also eat on my strawberries. (Strawberries are yummy, but not very sweet this time of year.)
As
uisgich will sympathize, you realize after you slack off how much better you feel when you are managing your food properly and getting your exercise. This past week I have had more time for other things, but I have felt icky, bloated, and blah much of the time. No energy, heavy, weighted down. I have to remember that the effort I put into NOT feeling that way is definitely worth it.
