Political Rant
Sep. 18th, 2008 05:44 amI said this earlier to
The absolutely stupidest thing I have seen in a long time - CNN did that thing where the got a group of XX chromsomes in a room to talk about the presidential race - read, to discuss Palin.
One of them said - I kid you not - well, I paraphrase - that working mother is the hardest thing to pull off, and a woman who has been such a successful working mother as Palin (what with the preggers 17-year-old and all) (sorry, couldn't help myself) is going to be a great president.
Dude. I've been a working mother for 10 years. AND I have a master's degree in Russian and Eastern European Studies. If she can be Vice President, I DEMAND to be PRESIDENT RIGHT NOW!!!!!
Gah. People are such retards. It just goes to show that "the average joe" doesn't know squat about reality.
And for the record, while it would be cool to be President, I have the self-awareness to know that, in fact, my working motherhood does not qualify me to be president. Maybe that woman thinks SHE'S qualified, but then, Sarah Palin does, too.
Ahem.
Also, all the interest in "women" this campaign cycle being created by Palin kind of pisses me off. A girl is running, lets talk to the girls now.
Also, in case you didn't notice, I am NOT one of the married white women who jumped onto the Palin bandwagon. I hate to think that marriage kills brain cells in white Americans with the XX chromosomes, but then again, I am a working mother, and I know how many brain cells I'VE lost. Just not the same ones as the majority of my sisters, apparently.
Um.
Ranting. Sorry.
UPDATE: Haha. When I raised this point in the office yesterday, one of the lawyers said, "I'm sick of having a-guy-I-would-like-having-a-beer-with for my president. I want them to go out and find the smartest damned genius mother-fucker out there and make HIM president!" (In the context, he COULD have said "HER" but I'm letting it slide.) I replied, "Or at least as smart as Clinton."
