Ice Road Truckers
Jun. 30th, 2008 04:56 pmWe have been watching Ice Road Truckers.
At the beginning of Burn Notice, Bruce Campbell's character, Sam, says "You know spies, Michael. A bunch of bitchy little girls."
Well, dude. I know these Ice Road Trucker guys are probably supposed to be the salt of the earth, blah blah, but seriously - a bunch of small minded, pissy, self-important bitchy little girls. That's what they are.
They say lots of really nasty mean things about each other behind each other's backs which could be affectionate teasing, if they said it one way, but when the one guy comments that he thinks the other guy just isn't strong enough to tighten down his load, you think, yup. He really thinks that about that guy, he sees it as a personal failing, thinks he is better than that guy because he doesn't have that problem, and generally it isn't a good natured tease at all. He's just bitchy.
It is a sort of interesting show. But after a while, it becomes a guilty pleasure. Because you know you've basically learned all there is to learn about ice road trucking - it seriously just isn't brain surgery - and you're just waiting for one of them to go through the ice.
So.
