So, lots of Bowl games on.
Bryant Gumbel can't stop using the expression "went down in the arms of." As in, "The wide receiver just went down in the arms of the safety," (or whatever positions are appropriate) (Ha. I said positions.) Meaning the guy was tackled. It of course struck both of us at the same time. I was smirking and Husband says, "I don't like that. Sounds like they're on a date."
Also, at some point one team was 10 down with about 5 minutes to go and about to score. The commentator says, "All you need is a touch down or a field goal and you're still in the game." Husband and I look at each other. He says, "AND A DOUBLE TOUCHDOWN WINS THE GAME!!!!" *snickers*
He and AG33 have a game going. It's actually very sweet. They will watch the ticker at the bottom of whatever game is on, and then decide who would win if the two mascots were "versing" each other, as AG33 says in tae kwon do speak. (Master Thomas: AG33, you vs. Kevin! results in the report "I was versing Kevin...")
So, Husband will say, "Wildcats v. Mountaineers?" And AG33 will come back with a verdict. They used to just do this while sitting together watching a game, but it has gotten to the point that sometimes Husband will see a game - this weekend it was Terrapins v. Beavers - and he will go up to AG33's room to ask him. For the record, AG33 thought it would be Terrapins. And I believe he recently went with Tigers over Cowboys, as well.
seleneheart maybe amused to know that the Hokies always lose, because AG33 can't figure out what a Hokie is, and if he doesn't know what it is, he has to assume it will lose. He also has trouble deciding what to do about the Demon Deacons, though I'm not sure why, exactly.
UPDATE: AG33 corrected me. He chose THE BEAVERS, as "Terrapins aren't really that big," referring to the size of their mascot. :D Though he did seem to be having a hard time deciding.

Date: 2008-01-03 02:18 pm (UTC)ION, we went for a hike and used our walkie talkies, and the 10 year old and I were having fun using Stargate lingo for our communications. My husband tends to revert to CB radio lingo (like breaker, breaker when he wants to say something) but he did say KREE once.
Happy New Year, mom....

Date: 2008-01-03 03:00 pm (UTC)Tell AG33 that a Hokie is a fighting turkey. Hopefully, that will clear up his confusion. *snickers*
Hmmm, I seem to have deleted my Va Tech icon and I have no idea what I did with it.

Date: 2008-01-03 03:08 pm (UTC)Yes. Very bad form for the coach to leave before the bowl game. What was even the reason for that? So he gets to MI a couple of weeks later? I am v. disappointed in him. Husband wanted MI to win, because they have been dissed all season for the loss to three time champion Appalachain State, and he has laughed long and hard at the chains of defeats that lead back to "and THEY lost to the team that lost to Appalachain State." Also, he really wanted Lloyd Carr to go out on a win. So you got a win, Husband got a win, Lloyd Carr got a win. Personally, I wish NOBODY CARED, but hey, that's just me. In fact, I had one of those moments one sometimes has this weekend. We have HD now, and the sports channels have particularly beautiful HD. I was looking at some of those HUGE stadiums absolutely full of people who CARED what happened in those stupid games. And thought about all the people who were watching them on television. Thousands, perhaps millions, of people, many of them passionately vested in which STUPID team one and which STUPID team lost. People who were going to be happy or sad in their REAL LIVES because of these events. And I wanted to spit on the TV.
Again, that's just me.

Date: 2008-01-03 05:11 pm (UTC)Sorry, I just woke up, and last night I discovered that the folder that contained a good number of my non-SG-1 fanfic ideas had disappeared. I'll stop blathering now.

Date: 2008-01-03 05:19 pm (UTC)I don't even know who won, to be honest. :) I'm sure Mr. Testudo was and always is incredible.
Alas, I believe AG33 discounts your turtle's size as unrealistic and he does not fear real turtles. He likes them though!
No! Folders should not disappear! Search on a document name and see if it moved itself somewhere!!!! *frets*
