*snerk* OK. You absolutely did. In fact, I related your quote to husband about how sex ruined Torchwood and love was going to ruin Doctor Who. Husband quibbled with your quote, saying that in order to ruin something, it had to be good first. But quite possibly you had already declared it to suck previous to that quote. :D
I don't know about *there*, but it's 3:58 a.m. here. I just woke up from a nightmare (as opposed to a night terror) and decided to sit in here for a while and see how many people post at this time in the morning.
I don't have BBC America anymore, but I do have On Demand and it should eventually run Torchwood on there. So, should I even bother?
If it's on the free part of On Demand, you should try it. Some people like it, plus there *is* boykissing, so...
If you have to pay for it, your annoyance with the scriptwriters will go up proportionally to how much you have to pay. :)
The scripts are abysmal. The members of Torchwood are almost completely worthless. You find yourself thinking, "These people are supposed to be standing between me and the alien threat?!" Still, they are fairly attractive, and the scriptwriters go out of their way to sex it up, so...
Like I said, you can always try it out for yourself it you can get it for free.
Ditto someone else - if I'd read that you were going to watch it, I'd have warned you. I watched one episode (about midway through, actually) with my sister and it was just a rubbish remake of an Angel episode. My sister has been ranting about it for months but she's a Doctor Who fan so she's been enduring it. She'd just decided to quit for good, but they've announced that James Marsters (Spike from Buffy) is going to be in it so she's now going to persevere...
I did say that you'd have to make your own mind up about it and had my doubts that you'd enjoy it since you don't seem to be too enamoured with Doctor Who.
It's not perfect, but it entertained me on Sunday nights last winter and will again soon. Yes, the boykissage, slashy overtones and it being aimed at an adult audience were all things that attracted me, but I liked it enough to be intrigued by what they'll do with season two.
And James Marsters is gonna be in it!! *squeeeeees*

Date: 2007-09-02 07:55 pm (UTC)But then I thought, seriously, I watch Alexander for the same reason.
Though, there not a lot of boykissing in Alexander.
Mind, there is a lot of "let's tiptoe around the sexual innuendo, *teehee*".
