That was so fun!
Feb. 22nd, 2007 09:56 amI just got a call from a computer.
When you get a call from a computer, I have been told that it is good to pretend to be a computer youself. Begin rapidly hitting the # key on your phone several times before hanging up. Hopefully, this will convince the computer calling you to kick your number out of its system.
It is especially relevant to do this when you get one of those calls with no one on the other end. This may be a computer calling to test if anyone is home during a certain time frame. If you pick up, the computer records your number for a telemarketer to call you back at another time.
Or so I have been told.
So you press the # key, the computer kicks the number out as a bad number, and the telemarketers never call.
Regardless of whether this really works or not, it makes me feel better, so I do it.
This morning, I got a call saying "Please hold on for an important message."
I immedately began my button pressing, but I decided to wait til I heard the computer hang up. About 30 seconds of button pressing later and I heard the computer say, "Please hold on for an important message."
So I kept pressing the button.
Then I heard a person arrive, confusedly saying "Hello? Hello?!?!"
*snickers*
I kept pressing the button til they hung up. Maybe they won't call us again.
*giggles more*

Date: 2007-03-10 04:09 pm (UTC)Like, pretend you are a drug dealer, are they calling for their heroin order? Or pretend you can't hear them, keep asking them to repeat themselves--you are some old geezer who lost your hearing aid.
I mean, the options are endless on how you could be so annoying they will be dying to take you off their list, and you can have fun doing it!
