Stupid traffic
Sep. 25th, 2006 09:17 amWell. Apparently it is Honking Day here in the DC area.
One guy, I swear, just honked to celebrate that the light changed! How could he have expected anyone to move in the nano-second between the appearance of the green arrow and his hand hitting the horn? (I was not first in line at this light, btw, in case you might think I was defending my own bad driving.) Nope. He must have been so happy to see the green light he had to express himself through horn honking.
Then there was the guy behind me who honked when I didn't go right on red.
Heh.
Dude. I am NOT having hormonal moments, lucky for you, but I am crampy and headachy and if I can direct my discomfort related irritation at somebody who really deserves it, well, so much the better!
Don't honk at me and try to make me go right on red. You'll be waiting a long time. (Plus, this jerk, as soon as he was freed from waiting for the light, immediately began violating traffic laws while talking on his cell phone. Jackass.)
In weekend news, took AG33 school shopping. He can now dress up like a little soldier boy three days a week if he plans his outfits right. *rolls eyes* And I had a moment of insight regarding black t-shirts. Those black tees that they all look so pretty in on Stargate. What a pain for the costume department. AG33 was covered in lint and dust after just a day in the house. Can you imagine the costume people, following SG-1 around with lint rollers all day? :D
I will now take a moment to complete my trifecta! I'm so excited! (And no, complaining about traffic *so* doesn't count! Everybody complains about traffic!)
I do most of our clothes shopping at JC Penny's. Partially because of prices, but partially because Penny's usually has the sort of clothes I'm looking for for all of us. I'm sure that reveals something about me as a shopper and us as a family, but anyway, the check out line went through the girls' department.
I was appalled. Not just at the pink and purple. I expect that. No, it was the stuff *written* on the little girls' clothes that was just awful. "Buy me stuff and I'll be nicer." That is not a paraphrase, people. There were half a dozen little pink and purple hoodies with sparkles on them and greed-is-good phrases like that.
Now, granted, AG33 came home with camos, which I suppose you could argue glorifies warfare and -by extension - killing. (Though in AG33's case, it really means he wants to play SG-1.) And in the boy's department, there were a couple of tees he could have gotten about how his name was Trouble, Don't Make [Him] Prove It.
But it just seems singularly unhealthy to have clothing that connects behavior to a payoff in glittery sparkly letters.
Any parents who let their little girls wear that deserve what they get. It just makes me wonder about the trend that there was *so much* of it on display. Practically the whole department. Clearly the buyer at Penny's thinks that's where the money is this season.
So there we are! Shoes/hosiery - diamonds - little girls' clothes! My Trifecta!
