The other thing
Sep. 12th, 2006 10:15 amStupid new shoes.
Very like that one, but with slightly less heel and a squarer toe.
Hurting my feet across the top. Hurting my arches. Hurting my shinsplints. Shortening my stride so that I walk funny.
I apparently have no tolerance whatsoever for any kind of heel anymore.
How do you people do it? And more interestingly to me, why?
I wanted another pair of ugly black suede sneakers. They didn't have them. Stupid bad people.

Date: 2006-09-12 02:32 pm (UTC)I am hoping my feet will get used to these things. To be fair, I think cowboys wear higher heels than these shoes actually have. The picture isn't quite the same style. I really don't want to go shopping again. Grrrr.

Date: 2006-09-12 08:58 pm (UTC)But your shoes are designed for looks, and cowboy boots -- at least good ones -- are designed for utility. Almost all of them have steel shanks to provide arch support, and despite having pointy toes, they've got ample space for the ball of your foot and your toes. And there's a difference between riding boots, which have a fairly high heel and are designed with the "If god meant for me to walk he would have given me four legs and steel shoes" mentality, and walking boots, which have a lower heel and are designed for things such as bailing off a horse at a run to tie a calf without breaking your leg.
Now go buy yourself a pair of 4" stilettos, like girls are supposed to wear. *hides*

Date: 2006-09-12 09:04 pm (UTC)These have excellent soles, and as business shoes go, seem fairly utility minded.
I cannot stand the idea that women deliberately wear shoes that make them helpless.
Someone actually told me once that 4 inch stilletos were good for self defense. She said get a guy in the privates with one of those suckers and he's going down.
And I'm thinking, how many women really want to get into hand to hand combat with an attacker. Most of the time, it would be safer to just run and scream. I certainly don't want my safety to depend on my ability to balance on one foot in heels while stabbing my attacker with the other foot, you know?
Of course, then she revealed that she had martial arts training and I'm still thinking, what kid of bimbo gets a belt that high and still argues that heels are good for self defense?
Apparently doing that much damage to your feet also causes brain damage. Who knew?

One of the best things about autumn - leather goods
*drools*
So, um, does that answer your question?
