And thinking of Aunt Suzie, these are the best pastry ever prepared by woman! I don't know where the recipe came from, but Suzie always made them and people would fight over them at the reunions.
Stickies
Blend with pastry cutter:
2 c flour
1 t salt
2 t baking powder
1/3 c shortening
Mix with ½ cup milk
Roll out thin. Spread with 2 sticks very soft butter. Sprinkle with granulated sugar til butter is white. Fold in toward middle, in strips about 2 inches wide. Cut into squares. Put into pan very close together and pour milk into crevices. Bake until stickies are lightly browed and milk caramelizes.
You do not have to use the added milk during cooking. Very good without.
