I was thinking last night about why I find DanielJackson so appealing. Aside from his total slashability, obviously.

He's unabshed intelligentsia. Not just an action scientist, like every Starfleet officer. Or Capt. Carter, for that matter. He's what every fantasy-novel devouring BA would want to be. Total bookworm geek who's converted himself into a sort of scholar-warrior. Action linguist! He goes off to dangerous, exotic locations and mutters to himself about the combined Latin and Greek roots of the local language and waxes lyrical about ancient influences on the architecture.

I have been trying to think of somebody else like that on TV. Somebody who *wasn't* a villian or just a one time character.

Anyone?

Gil Grissom on CSI. Don't think he has as many PhDs, but pulls a wide variety of knowledge out of thin air, from anything scientific to classical quotes to general trivia. And packs heat (apparently Las Vegas CSIs are full-fledged cops). *<3s geeks*

Stargate is television perfection. That's all I have to say about it.

I don't watch the CSIs. Husband lumps them in with the SVUs and refers to them as SUVs... :) But cool to know there might be intelligentsia out there...

Starate is slash perfection, as well. ;-) Have you seen any Jack/Kawalski? Because even though I'm all about Jack/Daniel, I would read J/K in a heartbeat.

The original CSI is awesome, especially Gil. On CSI: Miami, Emily Proctor is so hot she makes my nipples ache, but I can't stand David Caruso's character so don't watch it. Only watch L&O:SVU when I need a fix of Ice T's voice making me want to howl and throw my panties at the screen.
