Why the hell do lawyers still insist on writing "party of the first part" and "party of the second part".

Good Lord. This is what gives lawyers a bad name. *shakes fist at opposing counsel*

*grin* There's an absoutely fabulous scene in the Marx Brothers movie "A Night at the Opera" about contracts, and "party of the first part," etc. It's *sublimely* giggleworthy.

But yes, it's a pain in the butt. Our contracts (I work in publishing) aren't quite so nasty, but sometimes it's difficult to tell who's what and where to look for them. *grin*

There is no excuse for it! Contracts should be well written and clear, not full of junk. And they don't even REFER to the parties that way in any other part of the agreement. They just HAD to say it. HAD to. Stupid jackasses...
