The Barbarian's trick or treat costume was not ready for today, but today is the costume parade and Halloween party at her school. I convinced her that she could be Little Red Riding Hood, just for today, but putting on her fluffy summer dress with her red embroidered jacket on top. It is SO LRRH, that I always call her that when she wears the jacket. It is a heavy cotton knit fabric (like sturdy workout pants material), true red, with a sort of bodice/skirt type look to it. The bodice part is a double buttoned front with beautiful embroidery framing the buttons. It has a hood, of course, lined with pink and red striped material. So I put her in the dress, buttoned up the jacket, and gave her one of my two-quart baskets lined with a checkered kitchen towel and full of fresh fruit.

She was skeptical. "This isn't a costume," she complained, though when she saw herself in the big mirror in my room, she was partially convinced.

But when she got to the day care, the center director melted and squealed "Little Red Riding Hood!" Then a mom came in and The Barbarian said, "Do you know who I am?" and of course she did! There was much cooing over her cuteness. I said, "See! I told you it's a great costume!"

Then the center director started to menace her as The Big Bad Wolf. I told The Barbarian that was what the oranges in her basket were for - to throw at the wolf! "Bonk him on the head with an orange and run away!" I told her. She was SHOCKED that I would suggest such a thing.

The fruit was all washed, so she could let her friends eat it if they want. I also stuck in a little apple-dipping caramel, in case they want to cut up the apples at the party this afternoon and turn them into candy.

Did a search on Higgs Bosun. Got a result back for a link to The Higgs Bosun: Cheap.

Wow. Somebody should let the particle physicists know!

*rolls eyes at ridiculously stupid search results*

Check out Terriers. I think it's on FX. It's ratings are horrendous, so do it quick. The leads are funny, the writing is smart. For a crime/PI show, it does a does a decent job of hiding how derivitive it is. I'll be sad when it gets cancelled. Though maybe on FX, those ratings are good enough. It looks pretty cheap to make.
