Voice mail

In your message on your voice mail, please do not assure me that you will return my call at your "earliest convenience."
That is just a little too much practical realism for voicemail. Sure, it's probably true. As soon as you feel like it, you will call me. You know. Whenever. But you are supposed to at least maintain the social appearances that my call is important to you. You should call me back "as soon as possible." Or just say you will return my call, period.
When I get your earliest convenience message, I feel like yelling at you, even though you are not there.
Also, all you people who wish me a blessed day, I try not to feel hostile toward you, I really do, but you are giving me the kind of teeth grinding that I'm sure other people feel when someone wishes them to "have a nice day." I never had much sympathy for those nice day complainers til I met you blessed day people.
