Where is everybody?
Jul. 21st, 2007 11:40 amAnd I'm not just talking about LJ, where activity on my friends page seems about the same as any weekend.
There was NOBODY at Costco when I drove by on Saturday morning at 10:30am to get gas.
That is very odd. But they can't all be home reading Harry Potter. I'm assuming that it is a coincidence.
Last night, AG33 and I went out at 10:30pm to pick up the book. The store had reached maximum capacity, so we were not allowed to go in and check out the party. AG33 was a little disappointed about that, but I think the crowd pretty much made up for it. He was grinning and grinning. We saw a fantastic McGonagal, an excellent Hagrid, lots of very good Hermiones, one Luna, an awesome house elf, a couple of Dumbledores, a couple of Snapes, assorted people just dressed as unidentified wizards and witches, plus a few people dressed as witches and wizards badly impersonating muggles (or possibly just some people with really poor fashion sense).
I was really, really glad I went early to pick up the wrist band. We were called in the first group, and once they opened the line, precisely at midnight, we had our book and were walking to the car by 12:18. Unsurprisingly, there were still people lined up around the building as we were leaving. My estimate is 2000 people there, though I don't know if they sold that many books. On the one hand, AG33 and I only bought one book. But I personally know a person who was planning to buy four copies, so I have no idea how that kind of thing averages out. Maybe I should call over there and ask them how many copies they sold last night. Heh. I might just do that.
Husband and AG33 read one chapter together when we got home, then a very, very tired AG33 went to bed at around 1:15, and I did, too. Husband stayed up til about 3:00 or 3:30, but did not pull an all nighter. Little Sister didn't get up early, but didn't exactly sleep in, either. I was up again at 7:45. I woud like to have a nap today.
