I try to start family tradition

Happy Birthday, Frodo and Bilbo!

And in honor of the day, Small Boy and I starting Fellowship tonight. Will complete Return of the King prior March 25, 2005.

As we did this last year, too, in the run-up to ROTK, we are on the way to a tradition, here.

*shakes head*

In a strange, nay, bizzare, turn of events, am currently actively planning redoing my work screensaver. Mr. Sharpe will, of course, still be the voice of my computer. But considering a massive raid on footballslash for really good pics to go with the ones I already pilfered from dork_elf. Maybe it's the change of the season. Maybe it's hormonal. But I'm ready for new drool material a new look...

And while uisgich is my yoga inspiration, I need to be sure I spread the blame around appropriately, as it was actually dork_elf who said the magic words at the right time.

Last night, when I pointed the virtual finger at her, she acted all innocent/evil and said, "Power yoga?"

However, DID do the step routine this morning.

Major changes

Major changes to the default view today. Have been enjoying footballslash delivered right to my doorstep. Decided I needed to up the pretty content. So put bean_daily and viggo_daily on. And rugbytackle has been so dead lately, put on bean_squee.

We'll see how long I can stand the clutter...

Boogers

Just realized that I have been invisible all day. Have been feeling pouty with no one to talk to. But, duh. That was sorta the point. I just forgot. And now resisiting the urge to ping people from beyond the veil...

Lemon Meringue Pie

Almost forgot. Was trying to convince uisgich that she needed a better lemon meringue pie recipe. So, here's the only one worth eating.

This makes a very interesting lemon tart, if you leave off the meringue, and prepare otherwise as described

Lemon Meringue Pie

1 vanilla wafer crust (see below)

½ cup lemon juice (1 lemon)
1 t grated lemon rind (I use ¼ t lemon extract)
1 ½ c (15 oz can) Eagle Brand sweetened condensed milk (low fat works great)
2 eggs, separated
¼ t cream of tartar
4 T sugar

Combine lemon juice and lemon rind or lemon extract. Gradually stir in sweetened condensed milk. Add egg yolks and stir until well blended. Pour into chilled pie shell. Add cream of tartar to egg whites. Beat until stiff enough to hold a peak. Add sugar gradually, beating until stiff but not dry. Pile light on the pie filling.

Bake at 325 until lightly browned – about 15 minutes.


Vanilla Wafer Crust

1/3 c butter
1 ½ c finely crushed vanilla wafers
16 whole wafers

Melt butter in glass pie plate. Mix in crumbs. When crumbs thoroughly moistened with butter, press firmly and evenly into the bottom of the plate. Arrange the 16 whole wafers around the edge to form the sides of the crust.

Just read this item from dork_elf's post with great interest.

Now, although I really have no use for sports in general, I have been known to read sports analysis with interest on occasion. Stand out incident - the big Newsweek article on Donovan McNabb a few years ago. I was suddenly a Donovan McNabb expert, and Husband was confused, bemused, and amused. So, CK sometimes has wide-ranging and unpredictable intellectual interests. There are many precedents.

But in the context of the last several days, see disturbing pattern here.

Please don't tell me that I have developed some sort of pathetic, schoolboy crush on, *flinches*, Mr. Beckham.

The thought of it makes me cringe. When am I going to get over these embarrassing bouts of hormonal insanity? EW. SB. Now, what, DB?!

Am so put out! *huffs* I intend to blame this entire thing on the recent spate of pics. *general glaring all around*

uisgich reminded me about this old thing today. Having read dork_elf's article, realize that those PTI guys clearly don't know jack s*** about the international world of soccer...
