A two day shopping saga.

My lovely father-in-law is getting The Small Boy the Fellowship for Christmas. So The Husband and I thought maybe some orcs were in order. So I went orc hunting after work yesterday. Also wanted new windshield wipers.

First stopped at Toys R Us, but couldn't find any orcs I liked.

Then I went over to Costco to get wiper blades, having solved the mystery of which ones to get. (As it happens, the van takes two different sizes. Who knew?) Only to find that Costco only sells them in 2-packs. Which meant I would have to buy 4 wipers. Yikes! I didn't want to invest $30 in wipers at the moment, so I took a pass on them. I was thinking of Walmart anyway to look for orcs.

Fine. So went over there. Not only did they have no orcs whatsoever, but they didn't have both sizes of wiper blades. At this point, I would gladly just have replaced the one blade that is *really* broken. But that was the size that was missing!

By then it was too late to run back over to Costco, as day care was closing and time to pick up The Small Boy.

Arrrgh.

So I went home by way of the grocery store and at least got the strawberries for dessert.

Today, I went out to the Toys R Us near my office. No orcs. Went back out to Costco, got the 2-pack of the wiper blade to replace the one that is actually broken. On the way was inspired to stop at Target. They didn't have any good orcs, but did have Eowyn, upon whom The Small Boy has a little 5-year-old boy crush. When I brought her home, The Husband absconded with her. I'm pretty sure I'll get her back to give The Small Boy for Christmas, but am concerned that I will have to go out and find a second Eowyn.

It's like living with 2 5-year-olds! :)

Meanwhile, I'm thinking "Why do people go shopping for fun?" I've never understood it, and perhaps never will...

Was innocently driving to pick up The Small Boy this evening, when I pressed the wiper fluid button and an alarm went off.

Was half way through a cuss-word when I realized it was the warning alarm for the wiper fluid being low.

Once I finished hyperventilating, I had a little laugh. It was the same warning sound for the engine overheating. A bit of overkill, don't you think, for wiper fluid?! I'll be having flashbacks for weeks now...

Earthquake today, 4pm.

4.8

The Cellmate and I didn't feel it, but the people in the offices on the edge of the building not only felt the building sway, but heard it.

Weird stuff.

Neither The Husband nor The Small Boy noticed it.
