I am inclined to blow that off with regard to fan fiction in general. Her arguments aren't very good in my opinion. Almost no one reads fan fiction if they are not already fans of the original work. If people don't like it, they don't have to read it (this is my answer to her not liking it). Most people who write it do not have any interest in trying to be "real" writers and there are things to learn about how to write plot and dialog. It's nice to have a built in audience for feedback. Plus, the readership for fan fiction is pathetically small compared to the readership for the actual works.
However, on the flip side, if I were thinking of writing fan fiction in her universe, I would certainly reconsider, since it's clear she doesn't like people playing with her toys. And they are HER toys.
It seems to me there was one party on my list who heard the lure of Hobbs' universe fan fic. But now I can't remember where she came down on the topic.
UPDATE: I should say, outside of the copyright argument her arguments are not very good. She's absolutely correct about that and there is no legitimate argument against it. Disclaimers mean nothing in that regard, and making no profit only offers the protection that there's no money to sue you for. It doesn't mean you aren't violating the law or committing a crime, it just means you are less likely to be punished for it.
