Double workout this morning. The double workout kicks ass. I could bind every freakin' foward bend this morning. One Legged Forward bend was like a relaxing day at the spa. Hands in Namastay behind my back. No problem. JUMP BACK - dude - not exactly no problem, but major progress in the right direction. Progress toward someday binding the seated twist. Not tomorrow. But someday. Ha! Yet again, found a way to do something really mean to my left big toe. Which I am quite certain I am going to break one of these days. Poor left big toe.
Chickened out on the third backbend.
Everyone will be excited to know that I no longer look like a sausage stuffed into my workout clothes. More curvy than the instructor, but no longer the heavy chick in the beginners' class, either...
Now if only I had a weight machine. And another room in the apartment. Could work on superslow. *glares at tiny apartment*
And it's getting really, really cold in hell these days people. Because this morning I was imaging my perfect day at the gym. This is some sort of youth to middle aged thing, isn't it? Let's see. The chain of events. Tolkien. Slash. O'Brien. Cornwell. LiveJournal. Weightloss and fitness. Writing fiction (WTF?!). Yoga. Vanities, including going back to contact lenses, treating minor skin problems, and actually caring about clothes.
(Seriously. If you had said this to me in 2000, I would have told you to get your prescription checked.)
And imagining my perfect day at the gym: an aerobics class in stations; a really good power yoga session; superslow; float around the pool. And why not. A massage. :p
Thus far, borders as yet uncrossed. Hopefully never to be crossed. As they will draw down the Four Riders. Pedicure. Actual cosmetics - you know, lipstick, not chapstick, foundation, eye makeup, etc. Hmmm. What else? I'm sure there are others I'm just not thinking about now.

The synergy of aerobics and yoga

Date: 2004-12-01 04:05 pm (UTC)Am pondering how to fit yoga/exercise into week away on trial - am taking Cyndi Lee's OM yoga practice book and the mat obviously. Hotel in grim spot so no pool...will take kit anyway, wonder if I could blag local health club into selling me a one week membership!
Re: The synergy of aerobics and yoga
Date: 2004-12-01 04:11 pm (UTC)I hate to do yoga cold anymore. The double workout takes me almost two hours, though. I do a step/weights routine with an abs toning component first, then 40 mins to 1 hour yoga. I'll do yoga on its own when pressed for time. I like it much better than the aerobics and become very sad when I haven't been able to do a session for several days. But I can tell a *huge* difference in flexibility, as well as in the amount of discomfort caused by my various injury prone spots.

Very much doubt they will have a DVD player where I'm going!
Re: The synergy of aerobics and yoga
Date: 2004-12-01 04:18 pm (UTC)I get up at 5:00, see Husband off to his 5:20 bus, then start ASAP after I lock the door behind him. My work schedule is weird, b/c of Small Boy's school schedule. I usually only do 7 hours in the office, then an hour in the evening at home before bed. Can't drop Small Boy at school til 8:40, so plenty of time to work out, shower, get everybody ready and out the door. Maybe do a little housekeeping on the side.
Am insane person. I know. Also, paranoid freak. But that is a professional hazard...

Date: 2004-12-01 04:22 pm (UTC)I get up at six, aiming to be at my desk by 7.30 - husband drops small girl off at school - they start at 8.15 and then I do pick up.
Usual plan is to do at least 5 rounds of sun salutations one and two before work and an evening practice of about an hour. I also dance - jazz and tap, two evenings a week. But that's on hold a bit since the pneumonia!
