Re: Sicky!
Date: 2004-01-16 04:18 pm (UTC)Not while I'm sniffling away to "Brief Encounter" as I wanted to do! Much better than "Sliding Doors"!
And I'd love you to friend Arwen!

Date: 2004-01-17 03:43 pm (UTC)Brief Encounter!!
Date: 2004-01-17 06:35 pm (UTC)I haven't seen it for many years, and picked up a bargain DVD just before Christmas.
And after listening to an article in the radio about how film students can't see it's relevance today, I wanted to have a go at writing a screenplay based on the movie and the play that would show how the values that are at the core of the movie do still have relevance today if put in the proper context.
Yet another project to be going on with (and I haven't quite finished Strawberries yet, but may get it done tomorrow).

Date: 2004-01-18 01:40 pm (UTC)I posted my intro last night, well actually 3.30am - don't ask!! - and had a reply from Elrohir almost straight away. Then spent half an hour finding out how to say "hello brother" in elvish before I replied.
So when I got up this morning (v. late), Elrohir was back, as was Glorfindel, then Elladan arrived, and Erestor. Spent most of this afternoon being very elvish and civilised, and we had all just retired to the dining room for some thing to eat (how weird is that!!!!), when two older, wilder elves turned up, and began to try and heat things up, and eventually the party broke up.
Still talking to Elladan (who is quite slashy, so not about to try anything, I hope!) and Elrohir, Glorfindel and Erestor are quite cool too.
138 comments on that first post so far - OMG!!
I love that it was very in character for most of the time, and I'm not about to get involved in anything strange!!!
Oh, just checked! Diamond Took has just stopped by to say hello. She was on my friends list when I took over the journal, as were a couple of others.
Hope to keep this Moddle-Earth based, as like being in character.
Sorry to prattle on about this!
Re: Brief Encounter!!
Date: 2004-01-18 01:48 pm (UTC)Also, if I need to be in a certain place when I'm writing, I'll watch a couple of key scenes, like Boromir's death scene, that will put me in a sad mood.
And I can't watch stuff like Ice Age, or those ones with the baby dinosaurs looking for their parents without howling, so we don't generally go and see stuff like that at the movies!

Re: Brief Encounter!!
Date: 2004-01-18 03:16 pm (UTC)But I'm not like you. I really resent it when the main objective of the movie is obviously to make me cry. I flat refused to see Beaches. And when my brother tried to convince me to watch Titanic, I just told him "I know how it ends." (Cried a lot during The Small Boy's Titanic obsession.) Could not read the Grey Havens to The Small Boy - The Husband had to do it.
Did you watch Nemo? It didn't make me cry... :)

Date: 2004-01-19 01:13 am (UTC)Love a good cry, especially at the movies! And Beaches - wahhhh!!
No, haven't seen Nemo yet. It was either that on the huge premier type screen in Leicester Square (when we were in London last year), or Calendar Gilrs on the tiny one, so we went for Calendar Girls due to my emotional problems with kids cartoons! Will watch it when it comes on Sky, so I can cry buckets :)
Theatrical Muse
Date: 2004-01-20 11:30 am (UTC)Well, Elrohir did snuggle up to me while we were waiting for Erestor to appear with food, I gave him *a sisterly kiss on the head*, and then he dropped out of that thread! He is now trying to get it on with his brother in Elladan's journal. Might pop my head around the door later to see how things are going!
Elladan's a sweetie, though! I think I like being a female character in a world of manly slashyness, so I can be the sister figure to all these hot guys :)
On another note, did you ever read "The Saga of the Exiles" and "Galactic Milieu" books by Julian May, because I came across a brilliant character from these books yesterday, while sorting out my TM friends list. (So I did a little LJ yesterday while I was supposed to be working - bad databse designer :( )
Think he might be played by
Please feel free to ignore these rambling TM posts if you want!

Date: 2004-01-21 09:20 pm (UTC)Have you or the Husband ever read "The Saga of the Exiles" by Julian May. It was another one of those random fantasy books my Mom bought me for Christmas one year that turned out to not only be brilliant, but turned into an amazing series of books.
She also got me started on "The Chronicles of Thomas Covenant" and the David Eddings books. So, Mom - not all bad! (I do love her really, when she's not being exasperating!)
... and Arwen has posted a couple of challenge fics. The one about being drunk is quite amusing! Boromir also popped over during my break this afternoon, which was nice, but I think Elrohir scared him off!! Shame!
