Just posted an ad for a part-time law clerk over at the George Mason Law School website.

My ideal - eager, smart and available 1st year law student to train and keep for my very own until they graduate 2.5 years from now.

Fingers crossed!

How long til we receive our first resume?

I was hoping for a first resume by the end of the day. Which was a bit optimistic, I suppose, considering that if the posting was actually completely automated and never had to be touched by a human hand to be added to the website, it still only went up about 1:30...

Maybe tomorrow!

Not as of Friday. But my departing filing gnome (also my sister-in-law) pointed out that students don't usually have easy access to fax machines, which also reminded me that students would probably be far less comfortable applying for a job via fax, anyway. So hoping for something in the mail tomorrow (today is a postal holiday).

Thinking of adopting

I think our ad just got posted today, or possibly yesterday. Have gotten three resumes in the since I got to work today.

All third-year law students. I joked to Olivier that I really wanted a first year so I could keep them as a little pet for three years. He said, "Yeah, get them before they get too big!" To which I responded, "And I have to release them back into the wild..."

Poor whomever we hire. I think the pet metaphor is here to stay... ;)

In related news, I was getting ready to send acknowledgement e-mails to the first two applicants, only to realize that their names were of indeterminate gender! Ack! Took advantage of the informality of e-mail and didn't use a greeting on the return mail...
