Went to The Olive Garden for the first time in ages yesterday and had a very disgruntling experience.
The Olive Garden isn't very good.
The bread is obviously from frozen dough. The calamari is so inoffensive Small Boy would probably eat it if he hadn't already met *real* calamari. Tartar sauce was basically mayonaise. The marinara sauce for the fried cheese (which was much too bready) could have been tomato sauce from a can with powdered garlic sprinkled over it, for all the flavor and body it had. And Husband's pasta was looking none to appetizing.
The only reason to consider going to The Olive Garden anymore, as far as I am concerned, is the Zuppa Toscana. Maybe a restaurant for a light lunch - soup and salad.
I don't know whether to mourn my lost innocence or be embarrassed that it took me so long to realize. Am therefore currently doing both.
*sigh*
Husband tried to comfort me by saying that *of course* The Olive Garden was a terrible place to order calamari, and plus, he thinks their food used to be better. Marginally.
That said, and speaking of middle-class restaurant chains, I feel the need to wreck this story.
Party of OneIt's not the kind of thing I usually read/wreck, but I really liked it. It felt real and realistic. *shrugs*
