Mint Punch
Jan. 10th, 2004 09:24 pmPossible alternative for homemade coffee drinks...
Mint Punch
1 jar mint jelly
3 c boiling water
1 c pineapple juice
1 c orange juice
1/2 c lemon juice
1 pint ginger ale
Melt jelly in water. Cool and add remaining fruit juices. Just before serving, add gingerale.
To drink this by the glass, you can keep the fruit mixture in the refrigerator for several days, mix with gingerale on a per glass basis, to taste.

Does sound good!!
I have been very good over the past few days, and only had two HM WCMs.
When I weaned myself off diet coke earlier in the year, I used iced pink grapefruit tea. Used to make a jug up before I went to bed (sounds familiar, somehow :) ), and stick it in the fridge in the morning, then it was there anytime I needed it. It has a slightly bitter taste, and totally did the trick. Just before Christmas, I ordered a DC out of an old habit, but hated the taste, so I guess it worked!
PS What is Mountain Dew?

Mountain Dew is a lemon/lime type soft drink that is v. sweet and has the highest caffiene content of "normal" soft drinks (as opposed to Jolt Cola, and similar, which just flat advertises themselves as a caffiene vehicle). There are points in the day when I've had too much and start to feel like a caffienated hummingbird! Mountain Dew has 55 caffiene units in 12 oz. and coffee has 135 units in 8 oz. I found a comparison chart here. And in the process found a frightening number of sites about Mountain Dew... The Internet is a very weird place. So anyway, not as bad as coffee, but I probably drink more than most coffee drinkers drink coffee.
