I have discovered a smell. I think.
Jul. 7th, 2009 02:49 pmI tend to be very intolerant of strong fragrances and perfumes.
Because of this, I usually do my laundry with detergents and softeners with no scent. (And ew, btw, Gain smells disgusting. I don't know how people can love it so much. It DOES NOT smell like clothes dried on the line to me...)
Weirdly, I love the smell of my parents' laundry, which I believe is just done with plain old Downy, but for some reason, my laundry smells weird when I use that.
Several years ago, though, Downey made a softener scent called Tropical Bloom, or something like that.
It was a very light scent, and actually not very floral. Reminiscent of cedar, but barely there.
They discontinued the product and I was crushed. I even had my folks look for it in NC, in case it might still be available in other areas, but no dice. Gone.
Sometimes I will still find an item in storage that was washed back then. One of AG33's old blankets had been folded and put away in the diaper table and I found it this spring and just sat around sniffing it for a while before I finally gave it to The Barbarian. Some of his old clothes come out of the storage boxes with that fragrance.
Well, I have sort of rediscovered it, in the form of Dove "go fresh Energize" shampoo and conditioner. They say the fragrance is grapefruit and lemon grass.
So now I want to grow some lemon grass. I was thinking, hmm, maybe I could grow it in a pot on the deck and bring it in during the winter.
Um. Lemon grass grows to be five feet tall.
Possibly just easier to wash my hair with the shampoo occassionally.
