Visit to Stupid Town

So I went ot find out what sort of crap Rush Linbaugh has said to make such a commotion. Details at The Hill. Seriously, Rush seems to be back on the drug.

Then I clicked over to Ms. Fluke's article. Well done, as one would expect from the former president of Georgetown Law Students for Reproductive Justice. Lawyers are usually good, clear, persuasive writers, in my experience.

Then I violated my own code and read some of the comments. I do not read comments on the news online, because nearly every comment is stupid, whether I agree or disagree with the person, and reading the comments adds nothing useful to the news-consumption experience for me.

It was a visit to Stupid Town. Reminds me why I never go there. It does make me sad that more women dind't exercise some reproductive restraint a few decades ago, though. *sigh*

AAAAAAARRRGH! I just read the editorial by our local weekly newspaper editor about how he cannot comprehend that people are seriously voting for Rick Santorum for president. Similarly, it's hard to fathom that people are defending Rush when he says such vile things about a young woman. And look at what her actual words are! She is talking about married couples in situations that have nothing to do with whatever "slutty," "baby-killing" attitudes these commenters ascribe to anyone who's ... well, not themselves, basically. I despair. The good news is, they may be loud and they may be two centuries behind, mentally, but they are not the majority.

Rush, okay Rush is a nut job. The horrifying thing is that so many people jump in and say, "Yeah, this!" My dad gave me a Rush book and was puzzled when I handed it back and said I couldn't get past the first chapter. He said, "But it's humor." He just doesn't get how many people treat every word out of Rush's mouth as gospel.
